How To Set Concealer Without Setting Powder
Using concealer without powder isn’t a huge deal if you’re just using it to dab a few pimples and be on your way. If you’re anything like me, the under eye dark circle game is strong, and mama needs some help. Concealing your eyes with no powder is not going to end well.
Why do I need setting powder?
If I don’t set the concealer under my eye right away my creases are super noticeable and I might as well have just sported the dark circles because creases aren’t cute. Not only are they unsightly, but the concealer isn’t going to last as long without setting it. Since concealer is applied in some form of liquid, using setting powder is a must to keep it in place. By doing this it’s going to give you maximal wear time and keep your oils under control for longer. Liquid foundation/concealer with no setting powder might give a nice dewy glow at first, but after a few hours you’re going to be super shiny. Your skin type plays a role in this as well. If you have oily skin setting powder is a must have, while if you’re skin rarely gets dewy on its own, setting powder may not be the end of the world. Regardless of your skin type, having a good setting powder on hand is a staple in anyone makeup bag.
What can I use instead of setting powder?
You just put a full face of makeup on and you just realized you’re out of powder. Just great, right? The world isn’t over yet! If you have cornstarch in your pantry this can be used as a substitute. While I wouldn’t make it habit to use it all the time, it can be used in you’re in a crunch. The reason why it’s not smart to use it on a daily basis is because it’s a food grade item, not skin grade. Long term use could cause break outs or more likely to develop an allergic reaction compared to a setting powder that’s made for your skin.
