The best eyebrow powders

I love eye brow powders because you can mix multiple shades to find your perfect color.

What is eyebrow powder?

Eyebrow powder is a super pigmented powder that is used to fill in your brows with an angled eyebrow brush. Eyebrow powders are super versatile. They are great if you just need a light brow filler or can be used if you want to full on carve your brows. It can be mixed with water to make a super thin easy to apply liquid that can be as dark or light as you want.

Loose Vs. pressed eyebrow powder

Eyebrow powders come in a loose or pressed form. I prefer loose powders because it’s easier to make your own DIY eyebrow powder color.

What color eyebrow powder should I use?

Finding the right brow color depends on the natural color of your hair. Generally, if your brows match the color of your natural hair color it will look the most natural on your face. The goal of filling in your brows is for it to not look like you did.

Eyebrow powders for blondes

Natural taupe, ash brown, or light brown are all good options for blondes. Again, look for the color that most resembles your natural hair color. If you have blonde brows naturally I’d recommend a light taupe. If you can’t find the perfect color, you can always mix them.

Here I mixed light brown, black (called jet setter), and a foundation to make the perfect brow shade for my skin tone. I ended up adding quite a bit more of the lightest color to make my shade.
Eyebrow powders for brunettes

Brunettes generally have the easiest time finding the right brow shade.  Browns, ash brown, and dark browns are all good options. If you have light brown hair I’d recommend an ash brown.

What is the best eyebrow powder

Finding the perfect eyebrow powder for you depends on a number of things that you find important. Do you prefer natural ingredients? Does it have to be waterproof? Do ingredients not play a huge role? Once you think about what is important to you, I’ll recommend the best eyebrow powders from each category.

The best drugstore eyebrow powder

If you want to grab something cheap while you’re at the grocery store, I’d recommend one of these.

The best clean eyebrow powders

Mineral Eyebrow Powder by NuBeauti

Loose brown powders are my preference. This one comes with the angled brow brush and is a good color for blondes or lighter browns.

Savvy Minerals Multitasker

This is my all time favorite brow powder brand. This is a super pigmented powder that can be used for more than just brows. It’s also the cleanest makeup brand on the market. it comes in 3 shades.

Harder to buy

While I love this brand, it is harder to buy.

To purchase this product, click the photo and search, “multitasker” once you arrive at the site. Choose your color. If you want black, search “jet setter”.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Brow Powder Duo – Medium Brown

eyebrow powder pros and cons

Pros:

  • very blendable
  • easy to create your perfect shade
  • versatile- light filling or carved brows

Cons:

  • not waterproof
  • must be applied with angled brow brush

Eyebrow powder vs eyebrow pencil

Eyebrow powders can give the same look as eyebrow pencils. The main difference between the two would be your preferred application method. Powders can be messier and take longer to deal with, while pencils are very straight forward.

I find that eyebrow powders tend to give a softer look.

The best brush for eyebrow powder

The best brush to apply eyebrow powders is an angled brush. Eyebrow brushes make applying product easier than an eyeshadow brush because of the angle. The angle allows you to follow the natural line of your brow and makes it much easier to give the perfect arch.

Can eyebrow powder be used as eyeshadow?

Yes! Eyebrow powders can be used as eyeshadow. Eyebrow powders are made specific for brow colors, otherwise there isn’t much of a difference in ingredients. I have seen people use eyeshadow for their brows simply because it was the perfect shade for them.
